With Debra Messing and Beyonce as fans, jewelry makers Ken Leung and Dana Chin seem to have struck gold, metaphorically, that is. Their label, B-Side, appeases both frugalistas and snobs admirably with a freeform, contemporary appeal.

Their pieces are big, bold and glittering; eschewing costly metals and gemstones, this collection relies on elegant materials like silver, brass and enamel that retain a classic finesse but materialize into contemporary, directional pieces.

The collection is inspired by the cultural revolution of the 1980s in NYC, specifically the emerging hip-hop movement and graffiti as an art form. The brand’s cheekiness is readily apparent – prices of certain pieces reflect penal law codes that banned graffiti, so you really do get what you pay for.
