Win a pair of Ateliers Arthur from 722 Figueroa and MOXSIE!

Aug 12, 2010

Gentlemen, we've got a new brand this week, and if you're into the designer end of sneakers, everything Ateliers Arthur is your new required viewing. We've teamed up with Los Angeles men's showroom 722 Figueroa to give away one pair of the Ourasi High-Top in taupe. All you have to do is start up a Twitter account, send us a tweet, and tell us your shoe size:

Moxsie 722 Figueroa Aterliers Arthur Ourasi Twitter giveaway

Named after Ourasi, a French champion trotter considered "The Horse of the Century," the buckled ankle strap and perforated toe give a nod to equestrian stylings. Like High Snobiety said when they profiled the Ourasi, Ateliers Arthur's collection reflects a passion for design, innovation, and versatility. Their one rule is "designing shoes that will enhance your lifestyle."

Hellz Bellz makes Dev's "Booty Bounce."

Aug 10, 2010

The minds of Hellz Bellz have broken into a whole new dimension styling Indie Pop superstar Dev for her latest single, "Booty Bounce." The video debuted on MTVU last week, and it's sick! You don't even have to take our word for it. As MTV Style puts it, "Do we have a new music video fashion diva on our hands? We think so."

There are a whopping 26 different looks in "Booty Bounce," which puts Dev down as a serious contender against Lady Gaga and Judy Garland for Master of All Costume Changes. Each outfit chronicles a different age from Hellz Bellz' five years of fierce designs. Sharon Clott of MTV Style really digs the Jamie JeansHammer Pants, and past MOXSIE best sellers, including the Joey leggings and Ruin scarf, and you can still cop a lot of these looks right here on MOXSIE.

Check out behind-the-scenes shots with director Ethan Lader, including a cameo from Brittany, the woman behind the blog at What the Hellz!

See something you like? There's a good chance we have it here in our Hellz Bellz selection!

Mahfia. Moxsie. PARTY.

Jul 20, 2010
Nereida The Mahfia

Remember the awesome MADE Jewelry video with Toro Y Moi playing in the background? The team behind the video, THE MAHFIA, officially launches their visual media magazine, www.mahfia.com this Friday! (Of course, this also means big-time launch party of epic proportions. Read on.)

The site will give an inside look to the lives of an elite crew of girls and their friends who shred, create, design, market, write, produce, photograph, film, and make a living by pursuing their passions. Driven by relentless determination and hunger for creative progression, the Mahfia has been killin it softly under the radar…until now.

We asked the Mahfia's head fashionista Nereida which MOXSIE items strike her fancy the most, and we ended up setting off her party outfit planning for Friday's black-and-white event,

MADE Jewelry Fillmore Pin MOXSIE

I need these like a fat kid needs cake…

There’s nothing like new accessories to take a black and white outfit from basic, to beautiful. The Mahfia.com launch party is taking place this weekend, and I’m lusting over these lovelies to add to my collection.

Prepare to lust…

This pretty little brooch by MADE Jewelry will look perfect on my pretty little white shirt. Jealous? >The MADE Jewelry Fillmore Pin

The Harbinger Co. Large Honeycomb Earrings MoxsieNothing would look more fabulous then a pair of abstract The Harbinger Co. bamboo earrings peaking out from my brunette locks. >The Harbinger Co. Large Honeycomb Earrings

This bag caught my eye with its classic understated twist. I’m completely in love with Deux Lux's collection of tonal pyramid studed bags. Please be mine. >The Deux Lux King II Clutch

Deux Lux King II Clutch Moxsie

Maybe I should pick something out for the ‘Boss’, since it is her big day. ;)

We've partied with these girls before and can say from experience that they live with an active hunger for life! When they told us they're throwing a launch party, we cleared our iCals. San Diego, take note, you're gonna want to escape the Comic-Con crowd and the Mahfia party on Friday is the best way to do it: a performance by Dev, an excuse to deck out in black and white, and girls who ride.

MOXSIE will be in attendance we promise we'll be in the mood to give someone a free surprise! See you at the El Dorado!

FREE CUPCAKES

Jul 20, 2010

Moxsie Street Eats Kaboodle Kara's Cupcakes

There are two major pluses to MOXSIE's HQ being located in the San Francisco Bay Area:

1. Our neighbors
2. The food trucks

One of such neighbors is combining forces with one of such food trucks, and they're giving away FREE CUPCAKES at this Friday's Street Eats! Our friends at Kaboodle visit our Street Eats almost as much as we do, and in celebration of an upcoming Kaboodle-MOXSIE collab (Stay tuned! Survey says you're gonna love it.), they're giving away 100 of Kara's Cupcakes' full-sized delicious, delectable handheld beauties to the first Street Eaters to show up!

Every time Kara's Cupcakes comes through, the sun comes up overhead making the only thing better than a cupcake from Kara's is a cup of Blue Bottle Coffee's sweet iced coffee to go with it. Luckily for you, the KaraVan also serves Blue Bottle's perfectly refreshing iced beverage. - And did we mention the cupcakes are free?

You have been warned! Supplies are limited, so make sure you coordinate those carpools early to get your cake and eat it, too. (Kind of.)

Serving up the entrees for Friday is Curry Up Now, and the last time they were here the line was as big as everyone's appetite.

Click here to RSVP on Yelp and feel free to share it with your friends!

If you're interested in future MOXSIE Street Eats events, bookmark this calendar of our ongoing lineup!http://bit.ly/streeteats

Street Eats Special with Kara's Cupcakes!

Jul 7, 2010

Kara's Cupcakes at Moxsie Street Eats

It's been a while since we've waxed hungry and voracious on our blog. (If you follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or Yelp, you know we're quite easily distracted by food, just watch: Flats, Matt Bernson, skirts, Fall 2010, wedges, lemon blueberry creme brulee -  Fashion? What's that?)

Time heals all wounds, however gaping the hunger pains might be, and so we bring to you a deal to end all cupcake wars. For those of you lucky enough to live and work within Moxsie's physical vicinity, you can get yourself a free cupcake!

Kara's Cupcakes at Moxsie Street EatsWe've teamed up with Kara's Cupcakes (a Bay Area favorite and seriously if you don't like cupcakes something is wrong with you) to get you a discount on this Friday's Street Eats purveyors of dessert - PLUS a little something extra just for wanting more. Normally cupcakes are $3.25 a pop when you visit one of Kara's many locations, but when you buy 'em from the KaraVan (Get it?) this Friday, you pay $3 instead. Just enough to save some change for delicious iced Blue Bottle Coffee. AND...

Pre-order six cupcakes to be picked up on Friday, and Kara & Crew will hand you a FREE MINI CUPCAKE right on the spot!

Click here to download the special order form specific for this Friday.

Fill it out, FAX or email it back to Kara's, and we'll see you on Friday! Remember to be a pal and tell your friends. It'll be a good day with sunshine, Filipino-inspired tacos, gumbo, and cupcakes!

Here's a Yelp link you can share: http://www.yelp.com/events/palo-alto-adobo-gumbo-cupcakes

It's alive! Introducing MOXSIE FIRST

Jun 16, 2010

MOXSIE FIRSTYou may have noticed a few changes in the air, and they all revolve around two words, MOXSIE FIRST. Yesterday we all stood captive as we launched a brand new site, MOXSIE FIRST. We're amply proud to say that it looks like MOXSIE FIRST is appealing to fans old and new. Thank you so much for letting our hard work pay off!

Here are some thoughts from our CEO, Jon Fahrner:

“That product is perfect, are you getting more?” We hear this every day. When products catch fire and sell out, there is nothing but heartbreak left behind. It is very sad for indie shoppers. We must take action!

What if you could see into the future? What if you could see and buy things before they were in stores? Eventually, what if you saw things before industry buyers got a look? These are in the plans. In the meantime, this is MOXSIE FIRST.

MOXSIE FIRST is our membership site based on early access in limited quantities. MOXSIE has never been interested in reviving old fashion. Discount = Old, if you haven’t figured that out. If you like old stuff, you have options a-plenty elsewhere. FIRST is designed for the forgotten trendsetters who make the creative world go round.  Now we grant you supernatural powers. Go forth to see your indie fashion future!

MOXSIE FIRST is here to change the way you shop. Pre-order the hottest stuff from MOXSIE's trusted indie designers before the products hit any other stores. This is our response to all those members-only sites that try to sell you the stuff they couldn't sell from the seasons before. We couldn't have done this without being closely tied to our designers, and we're glad we can also give them the benefit of previewing demand before the actual sales season starts.

...Not sure why you're still here reading when you should really be hopping over to our first event with Dolce Vita, Urbanears (Earbuds!), and Generic Surplus - "Limited supply" means we won't have 'em for long. Better get to it!

Peasants and Travelers Doctors without Borders Artists without Boundaries

It’s good to know that Moxsie designers are doing good and helping people around the world. Our very own Peasants and Travelers is teaming up with Swiss-born artist and producer Romanowski in hosting a silent auction where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Doctors without Borders.

The 17 P&T bags up for auction are custom-made by San Francisco-based artists like Ben Collison, David Choong Lee, and Gonz One. Doctors Without Borders is an organization that delivers emergency aid to people who lack resources to healthcare. With increasing conflict in countries around the world, these San Francisco designers and artists are using their creativity and skills in a meaningful way to give back to those who need help the most.

Come join Artists Without Boundaries for Doctors Without Borders:

Saturday June 12, 2010 from 6 to 11 p.m.

If you can’t attend the event, you can always shop P&T bags here at Moxsie!

Moxsie designers spotted at Bazaar Bizarre

May 25, 2010

It's expected that an online retailer go to all the run-of-the-mill trade shows and mainstream fashion events to meet new labels and say hi to current vendors. At Moxsie, we do all of that, but we also like to check out things that are a bit off the beaten path. This past weekend, Make Magazine and Craft Magazine hosted their annual Bay Area installment of Maker Faire. Wired describes Maker Faire as "sort of a combination science fair / county fair, with a hefty dose of Burning Man thrown in." Maker Faire also plays host to Bazaar Bizarre, where we spotted a handful of Moxsie designers!

More pics in our Facebook album.

That's Loretta Nguyen (L, pink hair) handling business at the fiftyseven-thirtythree booth.

Frolick Jewelry meets the Lazy Environmentalist

May 25, 2010

Blue Medallion Double Necklace Frolick Jewelry MoxsieIf you get the Sundance Channel, tune in tonight at 8! Josh Dorfman, AKA: The Lazy Environmentalist, worked with Adrienne L. Wiley of Moxsie's own Frolick Jewelry to develop a more eco-friendly approach to jewelry. For Adrienne, her two big concerns in using eco-conscious materials were the accessibility of finding eco materials again and again, and how consistent the look and feel of eco materials are when they come from different sources. These are practical concerns for any modern day maker, whether it's a jewelry designer, clothing label, or even a car mechanic.

Did the Lazy Environmentalist find a way to make Frolick more green? Find out tonight in Season 2 Episode 6 of the Lazy Environmentalist!
