Brand co-founders and designers Ashley Dimes and Laura Marie both knew they had the right style formula when they were voted "best-dressed" in high-school. Subsequent fashion degrees and years of experience within LA's thriving street-wear industry reconfirmed that they had stumbled upon a unique aesthetic and feisty attitude.

A well-received launch collection in summer 2007 under Dimepiece proved that their bark had bite. The brand's name referred to its audience of women who were a '10' in every category: looks, expression and personality. Positive messaging was incorporated too, with particular emphasis on accommodating feminine curves rather than the heroin chic that dominates LA's rag trade.

In its fifth season, the brand has added cut-and-sew tops and leggings to an original offering of graphic tees, and the brand goes from strength to strength as trendsetting Nina Sky and Chloe Sevigny have emerged as fans.
