Doubledown NYC’s founder had his start as a graffiti writer and artist before entering the music business. From there, DoubleDown emerged as an accidental undertaking that found a loyal following, with test samples getting a rave reaction in the underground streetwear scene, and the overriding theme of New York City beginning to dominate the brand’s output. After a five-year hiatus, the brand re-emerged recently with an expanded collection of offerings, such as handmade sunglasses with gradient tints.

DoubleDown continues to produce series, often based around a particular theme or look, and each possessing a unique logo. The “eightyfourseries” for example, was inspired by the vintage styles of the 1970s and 1980s and mark the turning point where hip-hop became a global phenomenon.
