Seattle-based jewelry designer Sarah Loertscher founded lucymachine in 2006. Lucymachine jewelry echoes the structural aspects of both minute crystalline growth patterns and large-scale architectural designs. Sarah's use of steel and minimalist approach challenges the common notions of what jewelry can or should be, with a purity of design fitting equally for men and women.

What makes lucymachine jewelry uniquely elegant is the subtle way in which Sarah distills forms into their quintessential foundations. Steel is her material of choice, as its inherent strength allows her to create strong, large forms with a minimum of material. She is drawn to working within the parameters of jewelry, whose guidelines require her to produce small, light, durable, attractive, and versatile objects that can be worn comfortably on the body and stand alone as intimately-scaled sculptures.

Born and raised in Indiana, Sarah’s bare-boned jewelry aesthetic can be traced back to an early fascination with her hometown landscape of expansive fields, and skies silhouetting power line towers, granaries, and silos. To her, such forms—wrought from pure function—are beautiful. Sarah combines this pared-down desire of functionality and elegance into her finely designed jewelry. All lucymachine jewelry is crafted in her studio in Seattle, Washington.
