SUST has deep roots in community, culture, friendship and style that have nurtured the growth of this collaborative company. Founders Tristan Gribbin and Marion McKee have been best friends since they met in 1980 as young girls in a hotbed of alternative culture. Living in Northern California through high school and college, the girls were immersed in New Wave, punk, mod and retro styles that molded their creative spirits and sparked their realization that fashion as a movement had the potential to unite the masses.

Over time, the girls went their own directions, traveling and evolving but always keeping a vision of an ethical, organic clothing that would allow them to give back to their communities and express their love for their youth in San Francisco and the rainbow of cultures that it encompasses. In 2007, the girls reunited for a birthday weekend in California and SUST was born: an ecologically and socially savvy line of clothing that is eccentric in its simplicity, brilliant in its boldness. Like this bond between friends, these garments are consciously constructed and designed to last the test of time.
